Flooding closes roads, shuts down commuter rail in Salt Lake

Flooding in the Salt Lake Valley has closed a number of roads and shut down part of a commuter rail line.

The National Weather Service issued an urban and small stream flood advisory Wednesday for most of central Salt Lake County, including Salt Lake City, Sugarhouse, Murray, Millcreek, Holladay, Cottonwood West, Mount Olympus and Canyon Rim.

Authorities say a number of homes have been affected by the high waters in Sugarhouse.

The Utah Transit Authority says the TRAX line is under about a foot of water at 200 West at 1100 South. A bus bridge has been established between Central Point and 900 South.

A number of other trains also are running behind schedule.
