Blackfoot church serving free lunch to kids

A Blackfoot church is now serving free lunch to kids.

The Jason Lee Memorial United Methodist Church started serving lunch when the Blackfoot school lunch program ended last week. They serve meals ranging from peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to hot pockets. They have been getting around 70 to 75 children each day. It all started when members of the church became concerned for the children who were losing their free lunches.

“We needed to take care of these kids for this two weeks until school starts so they did have a lunch every day,” Linda Perry, lunch program organizer, said “So we worked it out with the food pantry here in Blackfoot. We would do the labor and provide the facility and they are providing most of the food.”

Adults are also welcome to eat for $2. The church will be serving lunch Monday through Friday until August 11.
