Wyoming mother charged with endangering in hot car death

A southeastern Wyoming mother is charged with misdemeanor child endangering for the death of her 4-month-old baby, who was left in a car seat for about 10 hours while the mother was at work.

Albany County officials said an investigation determined 38-year-old Kristie Dixon of Laramie forgot to drop her baby off at daycare before going to work on the morning of July 27. She found the baby in the car just before 6 p.m.

Investigators found no evidence of foul play.

An autopsy determined the baby died of extreme dehydration and heat stroke.

Undersheriff Josh DeBree said Monday that the charge was filed in Circuit Court. Dixon has not yet appeared in court and court officials have no record of an attorney in her case.
