ISU responds to Virginia violence

In the wake of violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia last weekend, Idaho State University has issued a public statement condemning all acts and expressions of hate. The statement reads: “Idaho State University expresses our deepest sadness for those affected by recent and horrific events in Virginia that led to injury and loss of life. As a University community, we strongly condemn all acts and expressions of hate, bigotry or discrimination by groups rooted in intentional dishonesty and false stereotypes. We stand on common ground in support of an inclusive campus community, and our University reaffirms our longstanding commitment to diversity. The ISU community is enriched through the countless opportunities provided by our diverse campus. We stand with others in the belief that the struggle against hate will only be won through increased education and public understanding. While ISU remains committed to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, it is important for us to reaffirm our position against hate speech and violence. There is no place in our society for those who would single out one or more members of our community to be the target of hatred and violent acts. We encourage anyone within the ISU community who may feel angry, fearful, unsafe or vulnerable to contact the Diversity Resource Center at (208) 282-3142, or the Office of Student Affairs at (208) 282-2794.8/18/2017 3:25:30 PM”
