Jackson Ranger District considering land exchange

The Herbert H. Kohl Trust is proposing to exchange approximately 80 acres of private land on the Gros Ventre River for approximately 45 acres of federal land near Red Hills Ranch near Kelly, Wyoming. Both parcels are in Teton County, Wyoming. Bridger-Teton National Forest officials said the “Bridge Creek Land Exchange” project might help the forest meet some long-term resource management objectives of consolidating land ownership. The proposed exchange would simplify management of lands with the Wildland Urban Interface and make wild fire management easier. The exchange would include a memorandum of agreement with the State Historic Preservation Office for the Wort/Gap Pucci cabin located on the federal parcel. The forest is currently accepting public comments on the proposal for the next 30 days.
