Real life vampires and fairies aim to make Pocatello a more inclusive place to live

Real life vampires and fairies along with Wiccans and Pagans are tired of feeling like they have to hide in Idaho. Their goal is simple, make Southeastern Idaho a more inclusive place to live.

Absynthe Entebris, who is apart of the fairy realm in Pocatello said she knew she was different growing up.

“I always had a way with people and bringing their sadness into happiness one way or another,” Entebris commented.

Years later, after doing some research, things started to make sense.

“I found out that there is an actual realm in Pagan society for the fairies and it fit. And the more I read on it the more it all made sense to me,” said Entebris.

Dante Angeli Tenebris, who is another member of the subculture in Pocatello, identifies as a real-life vampire.

“I find that in literature that vampires are very alluring and inspiring. That they could love forever. That they had a sense of immortality about them. That they were different and darker and that was my nature, I associate with them. Yes, I am a vampire,” Tenebris said.

While some might not understand these subculture religions and beliefs, the two said they are good people.

“I think anybody coming into the subculture world is born out of darkness anyway. Something has happened, whether it be bullying or bad home life, bad relationships, something has happened to you to get you to get farther away from the mainstream,” said Entebris.

Members of this subculture said they have been around for a long time. However, many of been afraid to be their authentic selves in public.

The two want people in Southeastern Idaho and Pocatello to know, that if they do not fit into mainstream culture that is okay. Whatever background, religion or culture they identify with, they are welcome amongst the fairies, vampires, Pagans and Wiccans in the area.

“We want to unify not only the subculture to the greater community here but also all of those who are kind of sporadic. And understand that they have a place to belong. They have a place where I am willing to talk to any of them. I am willing to understand, I am willing to work with them. They are not alone. We are here. So as said in one of our beloved book characters ‘come out, come out wherever you are, you are safe now, we are here,” said Tenebris.

The group would like to eventually open a temple in Idaho where people associated with these subcultures can come together to worship and celebrate their holidays. Currently they are looking at Inkom, Idaho, as well as other locations.
