Local church seriously vandalized, items stolen
UPDATE 6:36 P.M. 3/5/18: A spokesperson with Idaho Falls Police says about $10,000 to $12,000 worth of property was stolen from the church.
The vandals damaged several religious items.
Seven windows total were broken inside and outside of the church.
Police do have leads on a possible person or person(s) of interest, but are asking for the publics help to obtain more information.
Some of the items stolen include:
A baptismal candle and stand with blue ribbons on it, which is between 3 to 4 feet tall Silver communion trays, which are used to serve communion to the congregation. A brass cross about one foot tall Fabric banners, known as liturgical parament, which are used to adorn lecterns and alters;The banners are purple, to represent the Lent season and had religious designs on them. ORGINAL STORY: Members of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at Sunnyside and Rollandet, discovered serious vandalism inside their church Sunday morning. The Idaho Falls Police Department say at least $10,000 worth of property was stolen. There was also serious internal damage.
IFPD says they do have some persons of interest. It’s an on-going investigation and they hope to have more details tomorrow.
