Construction starts on two major Idaho Falls roundabouts
Traveling through the roundabout at Lincoln and Hitt Roads in Idaho Falls is kind of a mess right now.
Construction has begun at the intersection to create a larger roundabout.
Traffic is getting backed up because of the construction project.
The construction project will widen Lincoln Road between Hitt and Ammon Road to 5 lanes, including a center lane. A new roundabout will be built at the intersection of Ammon and Lincoln.
“The Lincoln Road project is going to last all summer. Expect delays through mid-fall. We’re hoping to wrap up the construction by November,” said Lance Bates, the Bonneville County assistant public works director.
Right now there are stop signs, and officials say you are to treat these as four-way stop signs. There may still be confusion for a while, so make sure you drive through with caution.
