Preston schools investigate threat
The Franklin County Idaho Sheriff’s Office wants to ensure the community the Preston School District has received no credible threats.
According to a letter from Superintendent Marc Gee, a Facebook post encouraging violence against the Preston School District Wednesday night was reported to the FBI, and Preston City Police Chief Peterson and Franklin County Sheriff Fryar met with district administration and determined the situation does not pose a credible threat to the safety of students.
Preston Police Officers and Franklin County Deputies are stationed at district schools to help provide a safe and normal learning environment.
Normal classes will be held Thursday, but Gee said parents are always welcome to come release their children if they feel that is best.
Prosecutors advice that threatening anyone with a firearm or dangerous weapon on school grounds is a crime and may be subject to investigation and prosecution.
