Jackson Council orders development moratorium
The Jackson Town Council has ordered a complete moratorium on new development applications for 180 days. The moratorium applies to any development that would be affected by proposed stricter employee housing rules.
The council was concerned that there could be an onslaught of development plans seeking to gain approval before the affordable housing regulations take effect.
Specifically, the rule applies to “applications under the land development regulations which current affordable housing standards or current employee housing requirements apply, or to which the proposed affordable workforce housing standards would apply.”
The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce asked for more time to look at the potential impacts the moratorium could do to the town’s growth potential.
The council voted 4-0 in favor of the moratorium. Council member Don Frank was absent.
The freeze will be in place through the summer building season until the middle of September.
