Residential treatment center goes to public hearing

A proposal to open a 20 bed residential drug treatment and rehabilitation center will go before the Bannock County Planning and Development Council Wednesday night.

Dustin Morden is proposing a group home at 5230 West Moonlight Mine Road in the Whispering Pines Home Sites division. The “Moonlight Mountain Recovery” property is currently located in a residential rural zoning. district and will require a conditional use permit.

According to the application, the center would serve between 8 and 20 people participating in programs of 30 to 90 days each.

The council may make a recommendation to the Bannock County Commission, which would make a final decision.

The hearing has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Bannock County Courthouse, Room 212, at 624 E. Center Street in Pocatello.
