Intermountain Gas seeks rate cut

Intermountain Gas Company is seeking permission to reduce its base natural gas rates by an overall 5.5 percent or $4.97 million.

According to Intermountain Gas, the proposed decrease to its base rate is a result of the recent federal and state reductions in the corporate tax rate.

If approved, residential customers will see an average decrease of 2.2 percent, or roughly $10.40 per year based on average weather and usage.

Commercial customers, on average, would see a decrease of 1.9 percent, an annual savings of about $38.17.

Intermountain Gas has requested the reduction take effect April 1.

The rate case is currently out for public comment through the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. You can find more information on the case here.
