Passenger faces drug charges after routine traffic stop

Pocatello Police arrested Samuel Elijah Martin, 27, during a routine traffic stop at around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to police, a patrol officer pulled over a car in which Martin was a passenger. Martin had a warrant for his arrest.

The officer saw a syringe on the floor where Martin was sitting. Inside Martin’s backpack officers located scales, packaging materials, and illegal narcotics, including 13.7 grams of methamphetamine and .6 grams of heroin.

Martin was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.
