Zoo Idaho opens Saturdayfor 2018 season

Zoo Idaho is getting ready to open its doors for the season on Saturday, March 31.

This year you can go checkout several new exhibits. The zoo’s bison, elk and pronghorn are a few of the animals who all have new homes.

Construction on the new wetlands exhibit will continue throughout this season as well making Pocatello the only place across the region to have this wetlands feature.

Crews will also continue working on a new exhibit for Valkyrie, the bald eagle.

The children’s theater has moved to the Zoo Education Building and features six new picnic tables nearby.

In May, a new female pronghorn, Weezy, will make her debut. Weezy was picked up as a fawn by a citizen near Weiser, Idaho and was turned over to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

General admission to the zoo is free for ages 0 to 2, $3.75 for ages 3 to 11, $5.75 for ages 12 to 59 and $4.50 for ages 60 and up.
