Bannock Development paints bright picture for Pocatello
Pocatello business leaders looked into the political future during breakfast meetings with the Bannock Development Corporation (BDC).
Economist Rick Phillips told the group Pocatello is meeting most of the major markers of a strong economy.
“We’ve got virtually 0% unemployment at 2.9% that means basically everyone who wants a job has one if you look at our different sectors, our industrial sector our service sector,” said Phillips. “Each of those sectors are highly diversified and at full employment right now, so from an economic development point of view and a marker point of view. Pocatello, Chubbuck, Bannock County in general is in beautiful shape.”
Bannock Development said many new and expanding businesses will be bringing hundreds of high paying jobs to the area in the near future.
Among the highlights of 2016-17 BDC reported:
2013 to 2015 Pocatello area average wage/salary grew from $18.02/hr. to $20.36/hr. = $42,340 annually ($2.34/hr. increase, almost $4,850 annually).
