Bridge work planned in Lemhi County
The Idaho Transportation Department will begin work April 2 on the first three of nine Lemhi River bridges. The structures will be rebuilt between April 2018 and October 2019.
On Monday, construction will begin at Milepost 101.77 and end after milepost 105.51. The replacements will enhance existing structures and provide increased capacity for the river. The roadways will be resurfaced and guard rails will be removed and replaced on all structures.
Work on two bridges southeast of Salmon will begin in June. The remaining four bridges are located between Leadore and Salmon. They will be rebuilt in April 2019.
“The nine bridges on the Lemhi River are part of an overall design-build project that includes seventeen bridges throughout Eastern Idaho,” said Bryan Young, an Idaho Transportation Department resident engineer. “We will simultaneously conduct work on multiple bridges at one time to minimize impacts to traffic.”
The transportation department is working with Wadsworth Brothers Construction and Wilson & Company, using a design-build process specifically created to streamline construction and reduce construction time and capital expenditure.
