Coming soon: I-15 construction
The Idaho Transportation Department will begin construction work on Interstate 15 between Utah and Montana starting in early April.
ITD District 5 Engineering Manager Dan Harelson said six planned projects are part of ITD’s commitment and $95 million investment in improving I-15 in eastern Idaho.
The 2018 construction projects include:
Work to repair four bridges on I-15 between Arimo and McCammon will take place between April and fall 2018. Work to rehabilitate three bridges on I-15 in Inkom will take place between April and late May 2018. Work to resurface four miles of I-15 from Sand Road to the South Blackfoot Interchange will take place between April and late May 2018. Work to reconstruct eight miles of I-15 between Spencer and Duboise will take place between May and fall 2018. Work to resurface nine miles of I-15 between McCammon and Inkom and repairing one bridge will take place between June and fall 2018. Work to replace the Rose Road Interchange between Blackfoot and Idaho Falls will take place from fall 2018 through fall 2019.
Traffic within work zones will be reduced to one lane in each direction with both northbound and southbound traffic traveling on the same side of the interstate. The speed limit will be reduced and occasional closures of interchange ramps and roadway shoulders.
“We are asking drivers to plan extra time to reach their destinations during construction. Please pay attention to signage and new traffic patterns, and remember that the speed limit will be reduced,” said Harelson.
Construction is scheduled to go through the fall.
