Madison Fire Department sends crew to fight fire in Oklahoma

The Madison Fire Department sent one wildland engine and three crewmen to western Oklahoma Thursday morning to help fight a wildland fire in western Oklahoma.

Full-time firefighter Ellis Johnston (wildland engine boss) and paid call firefighters Britton Youngstrom and Byron Wilkins are expected to be gone for 16 days.

“We are happy to respond to Oklahoma where their state is currently suffering from extreme fire behavior, loss of life and property,” said Corey Child, Chief of Madison Fire Department.

The crew is expected to arrive at the incident command post Friday afternoon or evening.

Madison Fire Department most recently returned from a deployment on December 26 when its crew returned from assisting in the fire conflagration in southern California.

In 2017 Madison Fire Department responded to 63 out-of-area requests for assistance through Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Dispatch Center.
