Local group helps people star gaze

If you are a lover of stargazing, here is a new way you can do just that.

Saturday, at the Portneuf Wellness Complex, people were able to get a good look at the sun and not go blind.

The East Idaho Astronomy Outreach Group had two of their telescopes set up for anyone to come to take a peek.

David Catlin and Matthew Stewart started the group to share the wonders of space with anyone who is interested, or who can’t afford their own telescopes.

They say they love talking to people about the stars and are willing to share with anyone who would like to see what else is out there.

“It gets people out of the house, gives them something different to do that you don’t normally think about I was talking to someone earlier from Brooklyn, that had never seen anything in the night sky but the moon before. And a lot of people just don’t realize how many things there are out there to look at and how much fun it can be,” said David Catlin.

They will be at Harriman State Park next weekend. They also love to come and do all kinds of events and gatherings, it’s lots of fun and its free.

If you’re interested to learn more, you can contact David Catlin at 720-609-4907 or Matthew Stewart at 435-512-0938.
