18-year-old Idaho Falls man charged with aggravated battery

UPDATE 6/6/18 9:12 a.m.: Police have arrested Devon Grant Arias, 18, of Idaho Falls on a charge of aggravated battery. It has not been determined if whether charges will be filed against a second suspect.

UPDATE 11:12 a.m. Idaho Falls Captain Clements reports the code red has been lifted, and there is no longer a threat to the public.

Clements said two persons have been detained, and there is no longer a code red.

IFPD reports a call came in at 10:22 a.m. at the 500 block of Garfield reporting a 54-year-old male was stabbed and transported to EIRMC via ambulance.

Police said there were two witnesses to the incident who reported a verbal altercation occurred between three men turned physical. Witnesses told police that one of the men, described as a young Hispanic male in his early twenties, stabbed the victim with a knife and then both men fled from the scene on foot.

Dispatch issued a code red at approximately 10:40 a.m. advising residents on Fanning and Garfield to stay inside and lock their doors. IFPD were searching for two Hispanic males who fled the scene.

Officials said the two persons have since been detained, and the code red has been lifted.

Police are still investigating the incident.

The 54-year-old’s medical status is unknown.

The Idaho Falls Police Department is requesting residents in the area of Fanning and Garfield stay inside and lock your doors.

Officers are looking for two Hispanic males who ran from a scene and are considered armed and dangerous.

IFPD said one man is wearing a white shirt and jeans, and the other is wearing red pajama pants.

If you see them, do not approach them and call dispatch at (208) 529-1200.

A Code Red alert has gone out.

Dora Erickson Elementary School and Compass Academy are on a shelter in place.

Shelter in place is not a lockdown. Doors are locked, classroom doors are shut and locked and students proceed as usual in the classroom.
