Blanchard man sentenced to prison for shooting deputies
A Blanchard man has been sentenced to up to 50 years in prison for shooting two Bonner County sheriff’s deputies.
The Bonner County Daily Bee reports Adam Deacon Foster was ordered to serve two determinant 12 ½-year terms for attempting to kill deputies Michael Gagnon and Justin Penn.
The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder and sentencing enhancements for inflicting bodily harm on deputies.
Foster said during the Tuesday sentencing hearing that he thought the deputies were assailants, not law officers. He has been diagnosed with delusion disorder.
First District Judge Barbara Buchanan ordered that the fixed portion of the sentences be served consecutively because of grievous injuries the two deputies sustained during a brief gunbattle outside Foster’s home on Jan. 16, 2017.
