Teenage driver injured in two vehicle crash in Bingham County

Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that sent a teenager to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

ISP reports the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 1100 E and 1400 N, east of Shelley in Bingham County.

Royce Samargis, of Shelley was northbound on 1100 E in a Caterpillar Road Grader. A juvenile was behind the Caterpillar in a Ford Focus. The Ford attempted to pass the Caterpillar as it was turning left onto 1400 N. The Ford struck the side of the Caterpillar and then hit a power pole.

The juvenile was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls by ground ambulance.

Samargis was not injured in the accident.

The intersection was blocked for approximately three hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
