Rhinehart Park pool to be removed
A field of grass will soon replace the Rhinehart Swimming Pool at 1055 Washburn in Idaho Falls.
The city has decided to fill in the retired pool and remove structures there, including a small adjacent office and locker rooms.
The pool was closed after it was learned that multiple leaks had progressed to a point beyond repair.
For several years, the remaining buildings were the targets of vandals and graffiti and standing water was collecting at the bottom of the pool.
The area will be demolished and back-filled and returned to a grassy area. Work is expected to begin within a month and be complete by the end of summer.
