Rocky Mountain Power tax cut benefits customers
Rocky Mountain Power says it will pass along some of its windfall from this year’s federal tax cut.
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission approved an $8.4 million, or 3 percent, overall rate decrease for the utility’s Idaho customers.
“Our customers already enjoy some of the lowest costs in the country, and we are pleased to be able to reduce those rates even more,” said Cindy A. Crane, CEO and president, Rocky Mountain Power. “We appreciate members of state congressional delegations for their work in making this reduction from tax rates possible.”
Typical residential customers using 800 kilowatt-hours per month would see a $30 savings on their annual electricity bill, about $2.50 per month. The rate cut is retroactive to June 1, 2018.
The company said it is continuing to work with intervening parties in the rate case to determine how the remaining tax benefits will be used to benefit ratepayers.
