Driggs and Ft. Hall water projects approved

Now that it has found no significant environmental impact, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is making plans to assist the city of Driggs with upgrades to its water system.

The city’s action includes water line replacement, constructing new lines to interconnect existing water tanks, replacing solenoid control valves, installing security fences, a tank well pump house, and chlorine treatment for ground water sources. The work will also include booster pumps, generator transfer switches, supervisory control and data acquisition systems and other metering equipment.

The Corps will provide funding for contract administration, design, construction management, inspection telemetry upgrades, and improvements to the Valley Center and Teton Creek wells.

The Corps also cleared environmental studies for wastewater improvements at Fort Hall. The Corps will assist the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes to replace a wastewater pump station and 1,600 feet of associated sewer lines on the Ft. Hall Reservation.

The pump station is reaching the end of its design life, with observed mechanical and structural deficiencies.
