The Devil’s Hole fire, burning 10 miles northeast of Hamer on BLM and State lands, was last mapped at about 5,000 acres.

As of last night, the fire was zero percent contained and there was no estimated time of containment.

The fire was running and pushing to the northeast in grass and brush. There are structures in the general area, but none were immediately threatened.

So far, 18 engines and water-tenders from multiple local and federal agencies are fighting the fire, along with 1 helicopter, 2 dozers, and two 20-person hand crews.

The fire was started by lightning at around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters conducted a burnout on the west side of the fire. That successfully stopped the fire’s progress to the west.
