Hoback water quality under review

The Teton Conservation District and Teton County Health Department have scheduled a joint public meeting to discuss drinking water quality issues in Hoback Junction.

The session will focus on existing information about drinking water issues in Hoback Canyon and potential options for addressing them. Researchers will present available information and provide technical guidance to homeowners to increase community awareness and answer questions.

Data from public water supply studies have identified a persistent, and in some cases, increasing concentration of nitrates in drinking water supply wells that is at or above safe levels set by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Studies conducted on behalf of Teton County focused on subdivision water supplies and possible contamination by septic disposal wastewater and if there were possibilities for a new water supply system in the area.

The meeting is set from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 13 at Hoback Fire Station #3.
