Big news out of Blackfoot (Hint: it’s not the fair!)
For the first time this week, the biggest news out of Blackfoot is not the Eastern Idaho State Fair. It’s a new business that’s coming to the city that could bring as many as 500 new Jobs.
B-2 Technologies has chosen then Old Sugar Factory location on Highway 91 for a factory that will make the “Cheetha” brand of portable energy centers. It’s a combination generator, air compressor and welder configured so there is no downtime between modes of operation.
After months of considering locations up and down the I-15 corridor, the company decided on Blackfoot because they felt the location and the community was the right fit for their company.
Blackfoot city leaders are thrilled with the partnership with this new business.
“It will help tremendously with our tax base,” said Blackfoot City Council member Jan Simpson. “With just the community as a whole, of course, it will help our businesses because we will have more people coming to the area and hopefully because we have that we’ll attract more people to come and live in Blackfoot. So we’re just very excited about it.
In addition to the factory, B-2 Technologies has a long-term plan which includes a housing complex as well as shopping centers and restaurants, to attract a bigger workforce.
