Pocatello High School improvement planned
Pocatello/Chubbuck School Board trustees are taking public comment on architectural plans to improve Pocatello High School.
The board has reserved $4.5 million in capital improvement funds to pay for the project. No bond money will be required. The project is scheduled for the 2018-19 budget year.
The improvements would provide additional classrooms and common space to accommodate increased student enrollment. It would improve student safety by connecting the main building with auditorium and gym areas and provide ADA accessibility to the main and upper floors of the existing high school and new classroom areas. Designs would also alleviate lunch room congestion and lack of space in the basement cafeteria.
The board is also proposing to move administrative offices to help identify a school main entrance for students and the public.
The proposals will be reviewed during the board’ regular meeting on September 18.
