Teton County negotiating deal for school ground
Teton County, Wyoming Commissioners are working to draft a three-party Memoradum of Understanding that would result in setting aside property for a new school building in Teton Village.
The agreement would include Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the Board of County Commissioners, and the Teton County School District Number 1 Board of Trustees. All three parties would like to transfer the 8.5 acres, known as Stilson Park Subdivision, currently owned by Teton County, to the school district for use as the site of a new school. Then, a recently transferred three acre parcel in Teton Village, that went to the school district earlier this year, would convey back to Teton County.
Some additional legal work is still required, but ultimately the school district would end up with enough acreage for a new school in the Stilson Park Subdivision.
Some of the key issues include a zoning map amendment for the parcel owned by Teton County, a collaborative agreement on a new development plan for the area, and removal of a requirement that the parcel owned by Teton County be developed as “unlighted playing fields.”
