Flash Flood Watch issued for Southeastern Idaho
The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Flash Flood Watch over Southeastern Idaho, for areas east of Idaho Falls and Pocatello.
“The remains of Hurricane Rosa are making land fall on the northern Baja California coast early Monday afternoon. Tropical moisture from this disturbance is expected to track north and east
Monday night and Tuesday, with most of it staying a little south of the Idaho border. Scattered to numerous rain showers are expected in the Caribou Highlands Tuesday, but with rainfalla amounts limited to a half inch. At the same time, a strong disturbance near the California coast will move inland Wednesday afternoon and Thursday. This will bring numerous showers to South Central and Eastern Idaho. The complex nature of this weather pattern supports continuing the Flash Flood Watch for now. Hunters venturing into the back country should be prepared for wet and cold weather.
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of southeast Idaho, including the following areas,
Bear Lake Valley, Bear River Range, Blackfoot Mountains,
Caribou Range, Franklin/Eastern Oneida Region, and Marsh and
Arbon Highlands.
* From Tuesday afternoon through late Tuesday night
* Widespread rain showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms
is expected over the Caribou National Forest, the Bear Lake
area and portions of southeastern Idaho northward to Palisades
Reservoir.
* Hunters and campers venturing into the back country should be
prepared for very wet and cold conditions. Footing on steep
terrain may become difficult.
