Infant ibuprofen recalled

The Food and Drug Administration is recalling several brands of infant liquid ibuprofen sold at Walmart, CVS Pharmacy and Family Dollar because they potentially have higher concentrations of the drug than advertised.

The manufacturer, Tris Pharma, makes the medication under brand names Equate, CVS Health, and Family Wellness.

If you are looking to pick up this medication there are still many other manufacturers to choose from. Mike’s Pharmacy and other local Pharmacy will carry infant ibuprofen with the correct dosages.

Chad Merrill a Pharmacist at Mike’s Pharmacy says, “The big issue is that an infant manages medications a lot different than an adult. A little extra for an adult doesn’t mean as much as a little extra for an infant. It is important because they are so small.”

If you are currently in the position of any of these recalled medications it should not just be thrown out. It needs to be properly disposed of.

The police station has a drop box you can bring it to.

Taking it back to the pharmacy where you bought it is also an option.

Verify what their policies are to see if they will return it. If not, they will still be able to properly dispose of the medication.

Tris Pharma has not received reports of adverse events related to medications in the recall.

It is being voluntarily recalled as a precautionary measure to ensure no children will be harmed from taking this medication.
