Wyoming attorney general announces consent agreement
A consent judgment will shut down a Wyoming home improvement scam.
The Wyoming Attorney General announced a consumer protection settlement against an out-of-state company called Pinnacle Powerful Solutions, LLC and its two principles, Ron Yung and Linda Pearson.
According to the state, Pinnacle sent postcards to Wyoming residents, promising a free steak dinner and information on how to save 40% on home utility bills. The Attorney General’s Office said high pressure sales tactics targeted senior citizens, sold products that did not really work, and concealed contact information to avoid consumer complaints.
After an investigation, the Attorney General concluded the company’s business practices violated the Wyoming Consumer Protection Act. The state filed a lawsuit in August 2018 and the company agreed to a consent agreement in Laramie County District Court Tuesday.
The judgment bans Pinnacle and its owners from selling home efficiency products in Wyoming for five years.
Pinnacle will also issue full refunds, totaling around $85,000, to all Wyoming customers within 15 weeks. If not, the company and its owners could be liable for an additional $60,000 in civil penalties.
