Idaho reviews shutdown impacts on unemployment benefits

The Idaho Department of Labor is reviewing its procedures in the wake of the federal government shutdown.

Civilian federal workers furloughed as a result of the shutdown will probably be eligible to receive unemployment benefits while they are out of work.

Those workers can now find information on how to file for unemployment insurance benefits here.

The blog post also covers several consequences. For example, if a furloughed employee ultimately receives back pay after the shut down ends there may be a payback.

There is a mandatory one-week waiting period before a claim is activated.

Non-federal claimants will continue to be paid, regardless of the government shutdown. The U.S. Department of Labor was fully funded for Fiscal year 2019 in the second omnibus budget bill approved at the end of September.
