Local ice skating rink supports Sister Cities Program

The Idaho Falls ice skating rink near Tauphaus park held a winter carnival to help raise money to send local students to Japan.

The Idaho Falls Sister Cities program works to further culture interaction between the U.S and Japan.

The program involves an exchange visit between students in Idaho Falls and Tokai-Mura, Japan.

There are many students eager to jump on this experience and are turning to the community to get their help.

This program has been ongoing for over thirty years .

This is the second year they turned to the skating rink in town to help them with their fundraiser.

Tracy Scott the Ice Arena Manager says, “this year we’re kinda doing one up on it and hopefully, we will build upon it next year.” The admission fee to get in was only five dollars to skate, play games, and participate in booths to learn about Japanese cultures. If you missed out on this year you can always make it to next years event.
