Major Island Park power outage repaired, but smaller problems persist

Update: 2-5 2:00 p.m.

Fall River Electeric reports the cause of the large power outage in Island Park has now been repaired and power restored. However, the area is still experiencing smaller outages dud to heavy, wet snow.

Crews will continue to work on those outages throughout the day and, if necessary, tonight.

ORIGINAL STORY:
Fall River Electric crews are working to find the cause of a major power outage Tuesday morning.

It started about 10:30 a.m. Officials believe it was caused by heavy snow loads but have not located the exact cause.

As of noon, the outage had taken down a main transmission line, affecting three or four substations. About two thousand Fall River members from Macks Inn south to Last Chance are affected.

Most of those meters are seasonal, but the outage is affecting some full-time residents and businesses.

Fall River said it would probably be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. before crews can isolate the problem and sometime after that to repair it.
