Public meets and greets final D93 superintendent candidates

Bonneville School District 93 is about a week away from having a new superintendent. D93 parents and patrons got a chance to speak with the two candidates, Scott Woolstenhulme and Jon Abrams. Woolstenhulme is currently the assistant superintendent for District 93. He says his 15 years in the district make him a good candidate.

“I just had a really good opportunity to build relationships with people in our community, with people in our state, with other superintendents around,” he said. “And I’ve just been in a lot of different positions in the district office, trying to learn all aspects of the job that if I did have that responsibility I could as qualified as I could be for it.”

Abrams is currently the superintendent for the Laramie School District in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. He is familiar with the Eastern Idaho area. He is the former superintendent for the Shelley School District. He says he is a good candidate because of his 18 years as a superintendent.

“I have a passion for kids and I just love the thought of being here in Bonneville School District,” he said. “It’s where our kids went to school for a period of time, they had a wonderful experience and it would just be a great opportunity to come home.”

Both have ideas on how to run one of the state’s largest school districts.

“My personal motto has always been student’s first,” Abrams said. “And when you make decisions based on students, you end up doing what you oughta be doing.”

“It’s a lot about building relationships with people,” Woolstenhulme said. “Having the ability to collaborate in teams and talk about what’s best for the district. And really having an overarching vision of where the district should go. And then helping people come to understand that vision and give them the support they need to get there.”

The District 93 School Board will announce the new superintendent at its meeting next Wednesday, Feb. 13.
