Shopko announces Idaho closure dates
Shopko has announced its plans for store closures, the result of recently completed restructuring agreements.
Idaho Falls’ store will remain open, but, according to its published schedule, the company’s Pocatello facility will close on May 5.
Other Shopko locations will be closed in Boise, March 17; Twin Falls, May 12; Orofino, May 5; and Nampa, on April 14.
The company said the closures were an important step towards protecting its future.
“This decision is a difficult, but necessary one,” said Russ Steinhorst, Chief Executive Officer. “In a challenging retail environment, we have had to make some very tough choices, but we are confident that by operating a smaller and more focused store footprint, we will be able to build a stronger Shopko that will better serve our customers, vendors, employees and other stakeholders through this process.”
The company was founded in 1962 and his headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin. As of last year, the company was a $3 billion retailer with more than 360 stores in 26 Central, Western, and Pacific Northwest locations.
