Locals gather to protest on President’s Day
Locals gathered in Idaho Falls at the broadway bridge this afternoon to take part in a national protest.
Groups mobilized against President Donald Trump’s emergency declaration this President’s Day.
Activisits are demanding that congress immediately take action to overrule it.
Protesters from Idaho Falls came to show their support on what they believe is the President’s latest attempt to undermine democracy.
“It’s like, don’t pee on my shoes and tell me it’s raining,” said MaCay Frerichs, the organizer of the event, “This is not a real emergency and just calling it that an emergency doesn’t actually make ti an emergency. So we just won’t let him know that people know what he is doing and….we’re not taking it…basically lying down.”
The protest lasted about an hour.
They received quite a bit of mixed reactions from drivers passing by.
From people chanting President Trump’s name and booing at them, to cheers and applause supporting the protest.
