Museum of Idaho wants your art on display

Museum of Idaho is looking for local, original artwork for their expanded regional exhibit, “Way Out West.”

“Anyone is eligible. This is a really wonderful opportunity for amateur artists and professional artists,” said Rod Hansen, the director of exhibits.

Specifically, the museum is seeking proposals for original art inspired by regional ancient native art, pictographs, and the local landscape, including flora and fauna.

This opportunity is open to any Idahoan, but preference is given to those enrolled in any federally recognized tribe in Idaho.

A maximum of $1,000 will be given to the artist chosen.

“The only open projects we’ve done before are naming the mammoth, which this art will be in front of, and doing some other fun things like that, but not actually commissioning a piece that has a cash award,” said Chloe Doucette, the director of education.

The proposal deadline is on April 15 at 5 p.m.
