Fire at Lincoln High School
UPDATE: 8:40 a.m.
The Idaho Falls Fire Department said a fire at Lincoln Alternative High School at 3175 E. Lincoln Road, was called in by an individual passing the school at around 1:25 a.m. Monday. Two ambulances, two engines, one ladder truck and a battalion chief responded.
Fire was coming through the roof of the building when firefighters arrived. A search of the building found no one inside. The fire was located in the southeast corner of the building where the gymnasium is located.
The fire was contained to the gym area. The ladder truck personnel spotted a two-by-ten foot hole in the roof caused by the fire.
School administrators say the main part of the building was constructed in the 1800’s and the gymnasium at some time after that. Damages are estimated at $50,000 to $100,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
