Pocatello patrol car struck in crash

A Pocatello man was arrested for Driving Under the Influence after crashing into a Pocatello Police vehicle at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Idaho State Police investigated. They said Marco Rosas-Alicea, 24, was driving a 2004 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on West Lewis. Police Officer, Sgt. B. Harris was driving north on Main Street in a marked 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe patrol car. Rosas-Alicea failed to stop at a red light, entered the intersection, and struck the Tahoe. Both vehicles came to rest in the intersection.

Rosas-Alicea and his passenger, Luis Gonzales, 29, of Pocatello, were wearing seatbelts. Gonzales was taken to Portneuf Medical Center by ambulance. Rosas-Alicea was arrested for DUI.

The intersection was closed for about an hour while crews worked to clear it.

Investigation is continuing.
