Firefighters gain upper hand as new warnings are issued

A “Red Flag” warning is posted for an area of eastern Idaho stretching along the Snake River corridor from Twin Falls to Island Park Monday. The warning is posted for 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center reports the lightning-caused Lake Channel fire, about 7 miles north of Raft River is 100% contained. Full control of the fire is expected by Monday evening.
It burned an estimated 8.272 acres of grass and brush.

The Horse Butte fire was estimated at 9,446 acres about 17 miles northwest of Aberdeen and was 80% contained Monday morning. Firefighters expect to fully contain that lightning-caused fire Monday night.
