International Choral Festival kicks off today in Pocatello

The ninth Idaho International Choral Festival kicks off Wednesday in Pocatello. Choir groups from all over the world have gathered to share music from their country.

Choir groups assembled at the Portneuf Wellness Complex for a day of games and fun before the weeklong series of concerts begin Wednesday. However, the Stephens Performing Arts Center will be the epicenter throughout the week.

There are seven choir groups from all over the world. China, Lithuania and Spain are just a few that showcased some songs Wednesday morning. Throughout the week, choirs will be playing at different concerts not only at the Performing Arts Center, but other concert halls in town, as well.

“We have choirs from every continent which is kind of fun. So there’s just so many opportunities to see diversity, to see different cultures and to experience them,” said Libby Howe, the festival’s publicity coordinator.

Events will be going on all week. Click HERE to find concert times and tickets for upcoming shows.
