DARUVAR, Croatia (AP) — Croatian police say an armed assailant entered a care home for older people on Monday and opened fire, killing six people and wounding six others. Croatia’s prime minister said the victims were mostly in their 90s. The police chief said five people died at the scene in the town of Daruvar, in central Croatia, while another died in a hospital. Police officials say the suspect fled the scene but police caught him in a cafe near the facility. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack. Media reports said one of those killed was the shooter’s mother, who had lived in the care home for the past 10 years.
