DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Long-haul carrier Emirates says it saw its most-profitable year ever in 2022, earning $2.9 billion after bouncing back from the coronavirus pandemic shutting down global aviation. The airline offered the figures in its annual report published Thursday, which said the carrier had revenue of $29.3 billion. The 2022 profit comes after the company posted a $1.1 billion loss in 2021. It said revenue was up year-on-year by 81%. Earlier Thursday, Emirates announced it would create a $200 million fund for research and development projects aimed at reducing the use of fossil fuels in commercial aviation.
