Man shot while allegedly attempting to rob a Pocatello home

Pocatello Police investigate a shooting

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 11:15 a.m. Pocatello police report a shooting occurred in Pocatello around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday at a residence in the 400 block of West Griffith.

A male was wounded during the incident and fled the scene on foot, but he was located minutes later in the 900 block of McKinley Avenue. Pocatello Emergency Services Personnel transported the male via ambulance to the Portneuf Medical Center, but he was subsequently transported to a hospital in the Salt Lake City area. The male is expected to survive the injuries he sustained during the incident.
 
The shooting remains under investigation, but the Pocatello Police have determined there is no threat to the public.

ORIGINAL: Pocatello police are investigating a shooting last night that sent one man to the hospital.

Police say it appears a man broke into a home on the 400 block of W. Griffith Road just after 10:30 p.m., possibly for an attempted robbery.

Two or three people were in the home at the time and one of them shot the man in the head or neck area.

He fled on foot and then may have been picked up by another suspect and driven a short distance.  Police found him a short time later at an apartment on the 900 block of McKinley Avenue.

He was taken by ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center.  He is expected to live. 

Police got a search warrant for the suspect’s home. 

More information will be released later Thursday. We will keep you updated as soon as we know more.
