Idaho Falls shooting investigation turned over to prosecutor’s office
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 11/20/23: Police have concluded an investigation, and it's now in the hands of the prosecutor.
The shooting happened Monday, Nov. 13 in the 200 block of 4th Street.
Police say a group was gathered at the house, when a fight broke out between two people.
That's when police say a 54-year-old man shot another man and claimed self defense.
A 43-year-old was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
No arrests have been made in the case.
Idaho Falls police have given the results of the investigation to the prosecutor for review and if any charges will be made.
UPDATE 11/14/23: 11:00 a.m. Police report the person was only in custody for questioning and was released.
UPDATE: A person is in custody after a shooting early Monday morning.
Police say a call came in around 5:30 a.m. with reports of someone that had been shot on the 200 block of 4th Street in Idaho Falls.
The Idaho Falls Police Department did confirm someone was injured.
Neighbors tell us their street is fairly quiet, so something like this is unexpected.
So you didn't hear anything? Didn't see anything at all?
"Nothing. Like, I don't know what woke me up at whenever because I didn't look at the time but didn't hear anything. Didn't see anything. Just was like, that's a lot of police cars for this neighborhood. None of the neighbors have been out, really. I mean, but that's not unusual. I mean, it's just a quiet seemed like a quiet little neighborhood. Everyone kind of keeps themselves. I've met a couple of the neighbors, but like, I haven't like the cops haven't said anything. There was nothing said last night. No. Like, don't come out like there was no knocking on doors. Like, I didn't know. I thought maybe they chased a suspect into the neighborhood. Honestly," Shirleen said.
Police have been on scene all morning.
The investigation is ongoing.
