D93 moves to yellow phase next week
BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - Bonneville School District 93 will move to the Moderate Risk phase next week (Feb. 7 - Feb. 11).
Superintendent Dr. Scott Woolstenhulme said in a letter to parents it looks like the district may have turned the corner on its surge in COVID-19 cases.
He said the staffing situation has improved dramatically this week.
"Thank you for your patience and support with our two school closure days, and especially to those of you who volunteered to substitute in our classrooms," he said. "Just so that all families are aware, all of our volunteers, including those who substituted in our classrooms, do go through a background check before being authorized to volunteer in schools, just like our regular employees."
According to the district's COVID Response Plan, in this phase:
- All Green Phase strategies are required in the Yellow Phase.
- Teachers and staff will actively monitor students for symptoms using thermometers and physical cues.
- Non-immune staff and students with unexplained symptoms of COVID will be sent home.
- May return with a negative COVID test
- Contact tracing will be conducted and families will be notified of exposure at school.
- Non-immune staff and students who have been exposed to COVID will be asked to voluntarily quarantine for 7 days from exposure.
- A screening program may be implemented for exposed students and staff and extracurricular programs.
- Non-IHSAA activities will not be permitted without the approval of the school principal.
