U-pick Red Barn’s special needs day
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Saturday is the opening day for U-pick Red Barn's Halloween season, but there was still plenty of fun held at the barn Friday. The barn hosted kids and adults with special needs to grant them a day of free admission and rides.
Activities for the patrons included train rides, pumpkin patches, popcorn, face painting and hay slides. Some rides were made more accessible for those who need it this year. The corn pit helps those with sensory processing issues and the pumpkin cannons were made wheelchair accessible.
U-pick Red Barn General Manager Alison Shindurling says it's great to reach out to this group of children and adults who lack opportunities.
"I know that there's just not a lot in town for these for these kids and adults to get to go enjoy and to celebrate their families that support them all the time. That includes all of them. But this is exclusive to them to enjoy the day by themselves where parents can meet other parents and kind of be a little community within itself."
U-pick Red Barn will be open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily except for Sundays.
The barn is also going to continue to offer those with special needs free admission each Tuesday.
